identikit

An idea developed around the time of the asylum seekers debate, based on police identikit images, a kit of facial parts.

Facial features and skin tone, prejudice laid onto random heads going around and around, based on nothing more than fear of the unknown, or the 'other'.

A video installation designed and produced in collaboration with Melinda Kerr

alsocan ident

Jane's eye morphing into the alsoCAN red fish under the sea.

An ident is a little animated sequence like you see at the end of a TV show; the production company's identity in animated form.

chinese new year

alsoCAN usually has a chinese new year party. 2006 was the year of the dog, so the alsoCAN mascot (aka Boris the dog) featured prominently.

2009, we had just come back from a trip to Mauritius (where Dave gave a paper at a sustainabilty conference) & Madagascar, so we missed Chinese Year & had a belated party. The images are a series of photos Dave took through the windscreen of the car in Madagascar.

Sometimes the invites are interactive, sometimes a simple animation like this one, & sometimes a straight graphic. It depends on how creative we are feeling.

We must see the invite animations as pretty throwaway as we don't seem to have kept many of them; possibly locked away on an archive CD somewhere. Maybe they are an indulgence; a quick idea thrown together for our own entertainment, for the fun of animating & to announce a party.
